Thrislington Quarry

We like to be a good neighbour to the communities surrounding our operations. We have a policy of engaging proactively with our neighbouring communities and supporting local projects and charities with funding and physical support.

Liaison group

We have an established Liaison Group through which we ensure a continual flow of information between us and the local community. The group meets at regular intervals and its members include local parish councils and Durham County Council.

Supporting the Local Community

The local projects and charities that we have supported recently include donating £32,000 earlier this year (through the Landfill Community Tax Fund) to upgrade play facilities for young people at Cornforth Memorial Park.

We were also approached by the local parish councils to provide support to stop trespass by quad and trial bikes, which were causing a nuisance in the village. The team worked with the local community and provided stone and sleepers to block key access points.

We also volunteered to help support Kelloe Primary School’s ‘mini quarry and construction area’.
