Restoration

Thrislington Quarry

Tarmac already have a detailed restoration plan for the western section of Thrislington Quarry; the differences due to the extraction of the remaining sand are limited.

The waterbody already planned in the existing scheme will be shallower in the east and deeper in the west. This will in turn provide greater opportunity to create shallow margins, thereby enhancing the biodiversity value of the final landform. Other areas of the restoration design, such as a return to agriculture, magnesian grassland and woodland, will be unaffected.

As is currently the case, Tarmac will progressively restore the quarry as mineral is extracted and areas are not needed to support quarry operations.
